I also use and prefer Simple Scan, which I run on UbuntuMATE 16.04,
with a Samsung CLX-3185FW, for multipage and single page documents,
and it scans easily into multipage PDF files. I do not remember,
however, whether I use the ADF on the CLX-3185, but Simple Scan is
easy to use for multipage documents.
I suggest that, if you do not already have Simple Scan installed, you
download and install it, and try it, and, find whether it suits you.
