Colin beat me to it. Including about it being 18.04 not 15.10. 15.10
was a short-term release and it should never upgrade *from* an LTS to
a non-LTS. However, you shouldn't have been offered 18.04 until
18.04-1 comes out.

Anway... What he said is good advice. You probably are getting Wayland
and it's not working or something like that.

Your old Unity session should still be available from that login screen, too.
