I have an OKI MC342N, it has Linux software for all its facilities so
you can scan from computer, send FAXes, etc. etc.  The software/drivers
are a few years old but work well, and the GUIs are written in Python
so you can D-I-Y a bit as well.

It's a pretty large beast though.
