And, I spoke too soon. Running 'sudo apt update' after I replied I
again get:
Fetched 4,734 kB in 5s (855
kB/s)
AppStream system cache was updated, but problems were found: Metadata
files have errors: /var/cache/app-info/xmls/fwupd.xml
Reading package lists... Done
E: Problem executing scripts APT::Update::Post-Invoke-Success 'if
/usr/bin/test -w /var/cache/app-info -a -e /usr/bin/appstreamcli; then
appstreamcli refresh-cache > /dev/null; fi'
E: Sub-process returned an error code
When run the first time the list of sources is (the XX are mine). Had
to copy list to gedit to find the difference.

Hit #9 is not in the first run that I can see. Before asking here I did
a Google search and ran across this:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/854168/how-i-can-fix-appstream-cache-up
date-completed-but-some-metadata-was-ignored-d
Applied the suggested fix however the issue did persist.
