Where is sources.list on Mint 18

Your correct, that's the place, but there is a .list file for each of 
the repositories. If I remember right, when I was using plain Ubuntu 
they all were in one big file. I also discovered I should be using 
Software Sources to change these files.

This leads to another couple of questions. The ppa in question was for 
Python 3.6. I disabled the old ppa do I have to uninstall Python 3.6 
before using the new private ppa?

Also I am wondering how to install the new private ppa as I need to log 
in to get access to it. Above I should have said I received access to 
the new private ppa from him not a new .deb.
