Testing memory and wiping hard drive before installing Ubuntu

I had checked the boot mode - it was UEFI boot, I changed it to CSM boot.
No luck.
With your suggestion, I did find a special trick to set UEFI firmware
settings:-
https://www.top-password.com/knowledge/disable-UEFI-enable-legacy-support.html
However, that option is no longer usable because I'm wiping the hard drive
with the command:-
sudo scrub /dev/sda
