Enable soundcard?

Firstly: I know close to nothing about computer hardware and even less about
audio hw.

I'm using Kubuntu so my system settings look slightly different, but writing
here as it is a more general problem.

I bought my current desktop pc 5 years ago (no name, assembled by local
store in Copenhagen), and have never really used it for audio, other than
plugging in a headset when I needed to, using the headphone jack on the
front.
There are also audio jacks in the back, but I don't even know if they go to
the MB or ..? There's no dedicated sound card, but an ASUS R7260X-OC-2GD5
graphics card[*] and for the MB it only says AMD Athlon 5350 / 2 GHz
Processor - AM1 on the invoice.

The only playback device I can get to work is the headphones. Choosing Line
Out doesn't produce any sound when trying with a small speaker set I got.

In system settings there are two entries:

- Tobago HDMI Audio [Radeon R7 360 / R9 360 OEM]
  - The only option is "Off"
- Built-in Audio
  - Analog Stereo Input
  - Analog Stereo Output
  - Analog Stereo Duplex
  - Digital Stereo (IEC958) Output
  - Digital Stereo (IEC958) Output and Analog Stereo Input
  - Off

Where should I start to find out how I can get some sound out of my box?
