Are you sure it is just that it had not yet completed?  When you copy
using Nautilus it shows a circle in the top bar which gradually fills
in as progress is made.  If you are copying a large number of files
(or a large amount of data) to a slow drive it is easy to think that
it has completed when it  is in fact still going.
