I did set all except HandleSuspendKey to ignore and checked its
effect...
SUCCESS!
Now I am writing this while I have a VNC session running after I have
rebooted the laptop and closed the lid. Before this modification that
was sure death for the Ubuntu session.
SO THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR HELP!!!!!
PS: I also used the webpage below to set up a swap partition for my
installation so I can hopefully get hibernation working too.The space
is anyway prepared for it.
