First of all get rid of cached configurations. There are probably files
in a path $HOME/.cache/mozilla/ or similar and/or /tmp/.
List all profiles and cached things, perhaps there's an issue with
permissions.
You could try diff to find differences. I don't know where thunderbird
does store it's profiles configs, there probably is a path
$HOME/.mozilla/thunderbird/ , if so run
diff -r .mozilla/thunderbird/profil1/ .mozilla/thunderbird/profil2/
replace profile1 and profile2 with the correct names.
If diff leads to nothing
copy -ai .mozilla/thunderbird/profil1/ .mozilla/thunderbird/profil_1.bak
and remove (delete) suspect files, maybe thunderbird generates new
files. Before doing so, close thunderbird and after that start it
again.
