This seems like the best idea. Thunderbird exhibits some *very* weird 
behaviour which I have concluded over the years is probably hard-coded 
and cannot be changed in the interface. I have reported several of them, 
with screenshots, but they were not reproducible in the developers' 
environments so they never got any further.
