External touchpad for Ubuntu?

Hmm, Ok. Well there is something going on with Unity as implemented in
this laptop that is preventing xinput and synclient from disabling the
touchpad. I've switched to the Gnome on Xorg in display manager and it
works fine. I don't prefer this implementation of gnome, But I resisted
Unity when it came out. I guess I'll get used to it.
