Thanks for that. I was hoping to avoid snaps as they seem like an
absolutely horrible hack, but this one thing is very valuable to me, so
I installed hamster-snap.

I ran it and...nothing happened. Some googling suggested running "snap
connect hamster-snap:system-observe", so I did and now it runs. Why
didn't the install do that if it was necessary?

But oh dear...

Look what they did to my boy...

It's gone to having all the style of a cardboard box. And there's no
applet any more, it doesn't seem to be able to "dock".

Oh well, I will give it a go. It does allow future times now, which is
useful.
