This is not the action of a "terrific guy". It is the action of
someone who does not understand security, good practice, how to use
mailing lists, and a lot else besides.

Don't send attachments to lists.
Don't send binary files to people and tell them to run them.
Don't add random binary files to your Linux. Ever. Find the distro
package and install it.
Don't recommend people to do it, either.

This was the *opposite* of a terrific, helpful, kind, friendly, or
useful thing to do.
