Hi,
maybe installing an official Ubuntu flavour is a fix.
IIUC Mint is available as a Cinnamon, Mate and Xfce release.
Official Ubuntu flavours are available as "Ubuntu _Mate_" and
"Xubuntu", the latter provides _Xfce4_.
To get Ubuntu with _Cinnamon_ you could install any Ubuntu flavour or
do a minimal server install without a desktop environment at all and
install either the "cinnamon" package to get the desktop environment or
the "cinnamon-desktop-environment" package to get the desktop
environment with extra components, such as the Firefox web browser and
other software users usually expect to get OOTB, too.
The advantage of migrating from Mate to an Ubuntu flavour is a way
huger community with lots of users running the same install as you do.
A huger community that could help with avoiding issues already in the
first place or if needed to fix issues.
Regards,
Ralf
