Can you tell us what it says on the screen when you try to boot from DVD?

I have never tried Ubuntu Studio, to be honest, but if it uses XFCE
(which is my preferred desktop these days) then it is more likely to
work than "full" Ubuntu. The normal default edition of Ubuntu uses
GNOME 3, which really needs a working 3D acceletator graphics card for
good performance. XFCE does not need this.

How did you make the DVD -- do you remember what command or tool? Does
the DVD work on anything else?

On many PCs, if you press F12 while it is still on the boot screen, it
will offer you a choice of startup options.

If that doesn't work, then if you can give me the exact model of this
HP, I will look it up and see if I can find out what the keystroke is
to get to the boot menu.

That is not necessarily bad. As soon as Ubuntu 20.04-01 comes out, it
should offer to upgrade.

If not, you can force it to do it early.

Here are links to instructions:

https://itsfoss.com/upgrade-ubuntu-beta/

https://linuxconfig.org/how-to-upgrade-ubuntu-to-20-04-lts-focal-fossa

This should give you Ubuntu Studio 20.04, which is fine.

Again -- if you give me the model number, I will look up the keystroke.

Better still, the model number and the BIOS version, if it says that
on the boot screen. If it just shows a graphical logo, try pressing
the ESCape key.
