I would not recommend upgrading to 20.10, I have found 20.04 to be
solid.  If you upgrade to 20.10 then you are committed to upgrading
every six months till the next LTS (22.04) arrives.  So unless you are
happy with that then stick with 20.04.

As Volker has suggested, tell us how you are trying to login and what happens.

If you make a new user are you able to login as that user?
