I looked at a few. Either I surrender as much control as I have done
to Google, pay more, and get less... or, I have a *lot* more work to
do myself. I decided it was not worth it, as much as I hate paying an
obscenely rich powerful company for something that they give away for
free.

That is perfectly fine. It's everyone's own choice. But I have been
using social media online since 1985, and quite heavily since 1991. I
don't _want_ to quit. I am just a little more careful about what I
share.

I agree. But the point I was making is: who do we decide to trust and
who not to trust?

Huge multinationals have a lot of my personal data. This means it's
pointless, IMHO, to worry about what one small company  – e.g. System1
– are getting as well.

I get a better browser that can do things Firefox cannot do any more,
and it is free of charge. That's enough reason, for me.
