Hi,
I'm using https://www.ventoy.net/en/download.html on Arch Linux to get
a persistence Xubuntu 20.04 bootable live ISO USB stick. As you can see
Ventoy is available for Windows, too.
I guess if you want to boot an install from an USB HDD or SSD, then you
just need a "normal" install.
The boot pitfall is, that you likely need to choose to boot from USB by
the BIOS/UEFI settings each time you want to boot from USB and to revert
this each time you want to boot from other devices. IIRC it's impossible
to keep USB as the first boot device for automatic boot device
detection, but I might be mistaken.
