speedtest-cli stopped working today?

To try this I unzipped from the URI above.
Under a fresh default Mint 20.1, it turns out I have no Python at all!
So I started with sudo apt install python
And then python setup.py which gives me

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "setup.py", line 22, in <module>
    from setuptools import setup
ImportError: No module named setuptools

I'm not a python user, so I have no idea where setuptools comes from or
how you install it...or why it's not included with python.
