Will installation on BIOS systems with no ESP be supported in 21.04?

On both of my at the moment running Ubuntu machines:
$ ll /sys/firmware/
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 0 2021-03-19 12:29 acpi
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 0 2021-04-13 15:06 dmi
drwxr-xr-x 12 root root 0 2021-04-13 15:06 memmap
One is an HP Elitebook 8440w Workstation and the other is an older PC I
inherited from my mother when she died in 2016.
It was quite old at that time.
So no "efi" in sight!
Does this mean I cannot go above 20.04 on these?
I have another HP 8560w, which is a year or two younger than the 8440w, but it
is not running at the moment.
