PPS: Maybe 8 GiB of RAM are a bottleneck when I make tar.gz backups of TiBs of SSDs or already just when coping 32 GB SDs or USB sticks or when extracting very large archives. OTOH there are other bottlenecks, such as the (in my experiences quite) fishy USB 3. IOW I really don't know how much the impact of "just" 8 GiB of RAM are for some usages.
