How is login screen set

I want to change the login screen on 22.04.

I've seen various scripts around from various folks and even tried a
couple of them.  No changes in login screen have resulted.

I'm hoping someone can point to documentation or tell me how our OS
arrives at its login screen appearance.

If I understood how that is done a little better, maybe I could see
better what needs to be done to change it.
There must be a single file somewhere that gets tapped to display the
image and background colors used to create the displayed result.


Any comments that help me sort out what happens, and where, to make up
the login screen appearance would be greatly appreciated.
