The version of atril that I have installed and am running, is 1.24.1,
running on UbuntuMATE 21.04.

It has a maximum zoom level of 400%, which is nowhere near what you want.

What you are doing and seeking, is way out of my league.

Out of interest, the MATE desktop web site states that atril is a fork
of evince.

I wonder whether the GIMP would open and view your PDF files, and, if
so, would zoom sufficiently?
