Ahh, good, I wasn't sure if you'd notice all this below my typical logorrhea.

OK, but it's still there. You need to get into it.

No. This won't work from DVD. You need the computer to be booting (or
trying to) from the normal main disk drive -- in this case, your SSD.
My suspicion is that it's starting to boot, but it freezes, and you
can't see that it's starting.
If you can get into GRUB -- start frantically tapping away alternately
at Shift then Esc then Shift then Esc as soon as the power-on
self-test looks to be mostly over -- then try this:
Press E to edit the command-line for booting the system.
Look for the line that starts with `linux`
On the end -- note, it probably wraps around onto the 2nd line
on-screen -- you should see the words "quiet" (which silences most of
the startup messages from the kernel) and "splash" (which displays a
graphical loading screen). You don't want them. So edit them out, then
press F10 to boot.
Now you _should_ see lots of text streaming past, and with any luck,
if it crashes or freezes at the end, you can see the error message and
we can troubleshoot what's going on.
If you can't see any text, or it flicks into a weird screen mode, do
it again, and this time, after you delete "quiet splash" you can add
"nomodeset" on the end, then press F10 and try again.
