No Sound on Laptop

Mine is an almost 10 years old Toshiba with an Atom N570 processor, 2GB
RAM and 2TB HDD. It works perfectly including sound with Mint 20/Mate
so how about trying Mate instead on yours? It should be more than
capable.

Also I have a USB DAC that my son got me a couple of years ago for
using my laptop with my Marantz amplifier. Sounds perfect and might be
better sound quality for your presentations.
