I've had trouble in the past with Power Management due to Systemd. It
seems like Systemd does not honor Power settings set through the
applet. It happens on a lot of distros, and not just Ubuntu.
If Systemd is the culprit, then you need to mask some of the power
functions. See the section 'Disable suspend and hibernation' at
https://wiki.debian.org/Suspend . Or more generally,
https://www.google.com/search?q=Ubuntu+systemd+mask+hibernate .
