At work we use Veeam's Backup and Replication system for backing up
several big db-servers. They use postgres though AFAIK. There may be
some mysql-servers too baing backed up this way, but am not sure. 
The backup-side is handled by a different group. I'm just the glorified
high-tech server side IT-janitor. :-}
