Yeah, OK, fair point, Aaron.

As a general thing, if something weird happens on a computer, after
35Y experience as a pro, what I do is:

* install any and all available updates
* THIS INCLUDES FIRMWARE
* reboot
* try again

_Then_ start Googling and looking for help.

I update all my Linux machines _every single day_ first thing, then if
I need to reboot, I can do it before starting work.

This also means the updates are never too big and they never surprise
me by starting at a bad time. I highly recommend this practice.

I do it from the shell, and the one command in my history also does
Snap and Flatpaks, as well. Do all the pending updates in one go, up
front, every  day.
