I really don't understand what is so horrific about that.  If you want
to learn about zfs raidz2 what better place to do it?

I am not expecting to run something commercial or really anything that
will matter much.  Just testing and learning.  I wanted to see how
much is really saved by using raidz2 as againt mirrored pairs that
require more discs.

If it is really so appalling to you? Of course there is the
option of telling me I'm and idiot and stepping on down the road.

But I guess it would have met the specs better if I had actually ruined
9 store bought disks.
