Odd boot warnings

I swapped out one of my HDD's (failing the SMART checks) for a brand
new SSD. Now I'm seeing these message on the boot:

[ 12.115594] ata7: softreset failed (1st FIS failed)
[ 22.127426] ata7: softreset failed (1st FIS failed)
[ 27.650776] ata7: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 300)
[ 27.664523] ata7: link online but 1 devices misclassified, retrying
[ 27.678283] ata7: reset failed (errno=-11), retrying in 30 secs

After that 30s wait, everything comes up just fine.

What do those warnings mean? Is there some setting the new drive incurred?

The HDD I replaced was /dev/sdb, and the new SSD comes up as /dev/sdb.
The only hits I found in Google are really old and no thelpful.

Suggestions welcome.

Mark
