Help with sendmail

Thanks...

whereis sendmail says its /usr/sbin/sendmail
ls -l /usr/sbin/sendmail
shows
/etc/alternatives/sendmail

ls -l /etc/alternatices/sendmail
shows
/usr/lib/sm.bin/sendmail
