Ubuntu 22.04 provides ipp-usb by default. The LIDE 400 supports
IPP-over-USB and will use it when plugged into a USB port. See
https://github.com/alexpevzner/sane-airscan
It is possible to arrange for ipp-usb to export the LIDE 400 to
the network. Its being a USB-only device is not a disadvantage.
Ubuntu 22.04 also provides sane-airscan by default and will use
it in preference to the SANE Project's pixma backend. sane-airscan
is not a product of the SANE Project. It uses libsane1, which is
a default package on Ubuntu 22.04.
You should be scanning within a minute or two of plugging the LIDE
400 in.
