As I posted previously, the SANE Project released their sane-backend
drivers archive in January of 2022. The release version is 1.1.1. The
libsane1 package - which contains THE VERY SAME sane-backend drivers -
is in the Jammy universe repository and its version 1.1.1-5. It was
released in March of 2022 in preparation for the April release of Jammy
22.04.1.

The libsane1 package in Jammy should work for you. I would try it first.
But if you really think you need the most up to date sane-backend
packaged for Ubuntu you should use this PPA instead.
