I'm not advocating for sane's pixma driver over airscan. I made no
mention of airscan or even the pixma driver's suitability for his
purpose in any of my posts.

In my first reply, I was merely addressing Marco's concern expressed in
his first post about whether the sane backend drivers in Jammy was
recent enough to contain the pixma driver version provided by the SANE
Project. And it does with the libsane1 package so his device should be
supported. If he's going to use the pixma driver from the sane-backend
package, I recommended he go with the one Jammy provides first because
its recent enough plus you dont have to mess with 3rd-party PPA's,
especially ones that don't actually have any packages to install. But if
Marco wants to use a version that is a few months more recent, then he
could use the PPA at the link I provided, though I seriously doubt there
will be any significant differences between it and the one that Jammy
provides at least as far as the pixma driver is concerned.

That's all that I conveyed in my posts, heh.

But, yeah, he could go with airscan. Why not? In fact, there's no
conflict between the libsane1 and sane-airscan packages so both could be
installed. In fact, sane-airscan is a recommended dependency of
libsane1! So installing libsane1 will automatically install
sane-airscan! Aye yi yi.
