I agree with Bret's suggestion.
I have done this on several machines now, with Windows 10 version
$recent and Windows 11. No errors, no nag screens. I think on first
boot after disabling it, Windows told me it had been turned off, then
it was silent.

I wouldn't really call it malware, but it *is* about keeping your PC
secure _from_ its owner, for & on behalf of content vendors.
It doesn't make your PC any more secure for the person sitting in
front of the PC.
