Thank you Aaron, yes I have the Debian 11 32 bit iso file.
I have created a bootable USB device using two different methods and
they both will boot the laptop that I'm using but not the Toshiba A100.
I thought I'd better make that clear.
I will follow your instructions and see if the resulting USB device will
boot but I expect that it won't.
It will be a painfully slow task on the Toshiba A100.
