The X cursor is the default cursor for X11. All the arrows and things
are styling imposed by your desktop or window manager.

This suggests to me that some part of your stack is not working
correctly or is occasionally dying. But you *must* do the legwork to
isolate when and where it happens, or it will be hard to go much
further.

What GPU? What graphics driver?
