you mean a "sudo modprobe zfs" does not work with a default ubuntu
kernel ?
that would be pretty fatal given there are some millions of users using
zfs on ubuntu, especially in the enterprise ...
all ubuntu default kernels since 16.04 (i think... might have been
18.04 though) support zfs by default, it is a fully supported
filesystem on the ubuntu kernel (even commercially) ... looking at the
linux 6.2 file list also shows it being shipped by default in the
linux-modules package:
https://packages.ubuntu.com/lunar/amd64/linux-modules-6.2.0-20-generic/filelist
you should always find the module under:
/lib/modules/<kernelversion>/kernel/zfs/zfs.ko
and that subdir is also where the kernel normally looks for it by
default in ubuntu... (after your built attempt is seems to search for
it somehwere else, looks like something mangled your modules.dep file
during the attempts)
there are even integration tests for every kernel that will block a
release of the kernel package if zfs.ko is not there or not working ...
if you actually see issues with it, you should definitely file a bug
using the "ubuntu-bug linux" command to tell the kernel team about it.
ciao
