because the first on has not been released yet and the second one is a
mainline kernel that lacks several 100 of (security as well as zfs)
patches as well as the proper ubuntu kernel config ... if you use a
pre-relase kernel like this (-23-generic), make very sure to have the
matching linux-modules packages installed too ...

do not use mainline kernels unless a kernel team member asks you to to
verify an upstream bugfix ... this is the only pupose of the mainline
builds, they lack security and are not being updated once you install
them ... 

there are also a good bunch of expectations in userspace that certain
kernel features are there that the mainline kernels will not provide,
so you will for sure also see userspace bugs that normal ubuntu kernels
prevent ...
