So, the
amd64 Packages
appears to be implicitly included.
and, after running
sudo apt update
then, running synaptic, and searching for gnumeric, in synaptic,
synaptic still does not show gnumeric itself.
I had sent a screenshot of my synaptic output, to Dave Fletcher, in
response to his sending me the equivalent screenshot for his Linux Mint
Mate 21.1 system; his shows gnumeric, itself; mine does not.
As previously shown, apt on my system, shows gnumeric itself, as being
available; synaptic (on my system), does not.
Therein, lies the puzzle.
And, on my primary computer, which I use to view, download, and, respond
to, email, which is also running Linux Mint Mate 21.1, synaptic shows
the gnumeric package, itself, as being both available and installed.
As a previous (I have no idea, as to whether he is still alive - he
appeared to be pretty old, when he was on television, about 40 years
ago) television science educator, was known to say, "Why is this, so?
Now, in response to a different previous response in this thread, see
the below.

After which, searching for the gnumeric package, within synaptic, now
shows the package as being installed..
So, the question remains; why did synaptic not show the existence of
gnumeric, as an available package, before it was installed, when apt did?
