about 40y, 20 of them working on ubuntu ...
you linked to a commit in the above post that you suspected to be at
fault.
a simple click on the diff on the page you linked would have shown you
that the change adds a function to modules/bluetooth/backend-native.c
in pulse's source.

so if you do not use any bluetooth audio, that code is not used at all
(since that module will not be loaded by pulseaudio) and whatever you
got with your update is completely un-changed compared to the former
version ...
