Failure installing Ubuntu 24.04 on an USB stick

Hi

Now I've tried the "manual install" on my desktop, which is an UEFI system.
There are (again) no provisions for creating an EFI System Partition. 

I have been able to do it like this, using Ubuntu 22.04. But it looks like
installing it on an USB stick doesn't work at all here.

I'm wondering of anyone here on the list has tried that as well.
