Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS apt problems - how to upgrade f/w?

Yeah. I've never dared to try it. My way of upgrading is to start
with a fresh installation each time and copy my valued data over.

The last comment on this page suggests that you would definitely not
only have to shut it down, but also unmount the drive in order to use
GParted for that:

although if I were doing this, I'd back up the server big-time before
messing with its partitions:
