24.04 netplan and NetworkManager

I have use this in the past:

/etc/netplan/00-installer-config.yaml
network:
  version: 2
  renderer: NetworkManager

An network manager was in charge after a reboot.

I do this :
nmcli connection modify enp1s0 autoconnect yes

and the "Wired connection 1.nmconnection" is not created - instead its
creating a file /etc/netplan

What is happening ?

How do I get the /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections files like it used
to be ????
