I don't know "kaffeine" but Google says it's a media player.

You know the magic trick involving yanking a tablelcloth out from

Doing an OS upgrade is like sliding a new tablecloth in there.

In fact it's a bit like disassembling the table and building a new
table while everything stays in place.

You tried to prepare and eat a meal on the table at the same time.

Bad plan!

Alt-F7 should get you back to X.org.

I am not sure for Wayland, and you didn't say.
