Installation of Ubuntu in BTRFS subvolumes

I implemented my backup solution using BTRFS on Ubuntu 24.10 and it is
quite stable. Before people ask, this is not a true backup even though
the server is in another building. I understand the copy on write
feature of BTRFS making this not a true backup. However, using
snapshots I am able to essentially emulate a Mac Time Machine where I
can go back about two years and retrieve old files when necessary.
The backup filesystem is on a series of software RAID volumes.
Fortunately, I have not had more than single disk failures in two
years. For my purposes this solution is good enough and reliable
enough.
