In fact, it doesn't seem to be such a bad idea. These packages seem to be mostly leftovers from a ubiquity like installation on the HP system. The only exception is nvidia-firmware, which seems to have installed a new package following a kernel upgrade.

I'm a bit conflicted as to how these package upgrades are handled in the scope of the various OEM projects by Ubuntu. Documentation is extremely scarce for what the stella and jiyai projects are doing when it comes to tweaking of apt updates and upgrades.

However, it doesn't seem such a bad idea to remove these packages. Will try.
