How to remove all the firefox (and other) cruft in /snap etc.?

Since Ubuntu aims for stability, there's a feature freeze[1] when a
release comes out and no more new APIs, features, or packages are
added:

Post-release updates are only considered if they're security fixes,
high-impact bug fixes, or unobtrusive and substantially-beneficial
bug fixes. More is needed for programs like Firefox, for example,
since their best security is obtained by keeping a cutting-edge
version of the software on your system.

Snap is one way to do that. There are others, but each of them have
advantages and disadvantages and Snap seems like the most suitable
choice from a security standpoint:
