Which file manager are you using, and, which desktop environment are you
using?

In using the Mate desktop environment, I found the mate file manager,
caja, to be somewhat lacking, most of the time, so, I installed pcmanfm,
which I use as my default file manager, but, for some things (I cannot
remember what, offhand - it will come to me, when I need it again, I
hope), I still need to use caja, so, I have both installed, and, as I
said, use pcmanfm as my default file manager.

Maybe, that would work for you?
